About me

I ACTIVATE LIVING MATRICES

My practice unfolds as applied artistic research. I work with ritual as both a spiritual and political technology, developing it into a methodological framework. Rooted in Serer cosmology and West African mythic systems, I approach the uterus as a conceptual architecture,  a matrix of transformation where memory, identity, and futurity can be reconfigured.

I design immersive frameworks. These environments integrate sound, symbolic geometry, vibration, movement, and embodied storytelling to generate intensified states of presence.The audience is positioned not as spectator but as participant within an activated field. Each project becomes a temporary laboratory where collective imaginaries can shift.Video is central to my practice. I document ritual gestures and collective processes while developing a layer of autofiction.

Who Is t.I.E ?

T.I.E (Ngnima Sarr) is a Senegalese artist and researcher working at the intersection of ritual, performance, sound, installation, and moving image.

Rooted in Serer cosmology and Afro-diasporic feminist thought, she develops embodied methodologies that activate ritual as a transformative and research-based practice.

Her work has been presented internationally, including at Palais de la Porte Dorée (Paris), Partcours Dakar 2021, Duke University & Atlanta for the Night of ideas ( 2024-2026), and within the France–Brazil Season 2025.

In 2024, she was artist-in-residence with Villa Albertine in Atlanta, where she formalized her “ritual interview” protocol, now implemented through Odyssey in Black Utero at Spelman College and Emory University.

Through immersive environments and speculative archives, she activates living matrices where memory, Ritual, and futurity intersect.

SELECTED work

Odyssey in Utero is a transatlantic ritual platform unfolding across Africa, Europe, and the Americas.

Mawu's Daughters A Contemporary Tale unfolds from the Dahomeyan creation myth of Mawu-Lisa, in the shape of a multimedia Installation.

I use Ritual as an invisible architecture through which the body becomes a site of knowledge again, stops being an object and becomes an interface.
