MAWU'S DAUGHTERS

Mawu’s Daughters , A Contemporary Tale unfolds from the Vodun creation myth of Mawu-Lisa, the androgynous creator deity embodying dynamic equilibrium.
At its core stands Tunnel de Dan, a monumental wooden serpent-form functioning as cosmological axis and initiatory passage.

MAWU'S DAUGHTERS

The installation is structured around perceptual separation. Two distinct zones : MAWU and LISA are divided by translucent water-colored plexiglass panels. Visitors can only glimpse silhouettes through the surfaces, embodying the impossibility of total vision. At the end of the tunnel, a monumental curved wooden screen presents a three-part film performed by Ndoho Ange:

— Mawu, Mirror of Our Madness, staged at an urban crossroads in Dakar.
— Mawu, Guardian of Life–Death–Life, drifting alone in a red boat across the Lac Rose.
— Mawu, Architect of the Universe, filmed in the desert, her body transformed into a spider-like cosmic figure.Awé the monkey of the myth , emerges as an allegory of the contemporary human entangled in technological excess and ecological rupture.Conceived as a reactivable matrix, the work transforms myth into ethical and spatial experience.
